Owasso Public Schools is hitting the road this fall with new school buses thanks to the strong support of the community through the 2022 school bond.

The district recently added a total of eight buses to its fleet, helping enhance daily transportation for the roughly 6,000 students who rely on bus service throughout the school year. The new additions include one special education (SPED) bus, two activity buses, and five 71-passenger route buses.

“Thanks to the support of the 2022 school bond by the Owasso community, we’re grateful and proud to be able to add these new buses to our fleet this summer,” said OPS director of communications Jordan Korphage. “During the school year, OPS buses transport 6,000 students a day, and the ability to cycle in new buses helps ensure that we can provide a reliable, smooth and secure ride to and from school. Of course, these buses are also used to transport students for academic field trips, competitions, and other opportunities beyond the classroom that enrich student learning. We’re grateful for the continued support from the community that makes these improvements possible.”

The buses were built from bumper to bumper right here in Green Country. Whether it’s for daily pick-up and drop-off, traveling to athletic events, or serving students with special needs, the fleet expansion plays a crucial role in supporting learning beyond the classroom.

The 2022 bond issue continues to provide meaningful upgrades across the district, and these new buses are a rolling reminder of what’s possible when the community and schools work together.
