Owasso Defeats Union 6-3 to Capture Regional Baseball Title

OWASSO, Okla. — The Owasso Rams baseball team added another milestone to its storied history Thursday afternoon, defeating Union 6-3 at Stigall Field to claim the program’s 39th regional championship in 52 years. With the win, Owasso advances to the Class 6A state tournament and improves its season record to 37-2, extending its current winning streak to 12 games.

The Rams wasted no time setting the tone, erupting for five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Senior outfielder Kooper Ranallo sparked the offense with an RBI triple to right field, bringing home Easton Hailey, who had reached base earlier in the frame on an error. Shortly after, senior infielder Benji Bauer delivered a key two-RBI single, helping Owasso build an early cushion that Union was unable to overcome.

Ranallo finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored, continuing a standout season for the veteran leader. Bauer also added two RBIs, contributing to a balanced offensive attack that combined timely hitting with aggressive baserunning to keep Union on its heels.

On the mound, junior right-hander Cayden Schroyer earned the win with a solid five-inning performance. Schroyer held Union to two runs and worked his way out of multiple jams to preserve the Rams’ early lead. Senior Brady Reed entered in relief in the sixth and pitched two scoreless innings, retiring six consecutive batters to close the game and seal the regional title.

Union managed to score once in the sixth but struggled to generate consistent offense against Owasso’s pitching duo. Despite putting runners on base in the middle innings, Union couldn’t string together a rally against the Rams’ defense, which remained steady throughout.

The victory marks another chapter in the legacy of head coach Larry Turner’s program (44th season), which has been a perennial power in Oklahoma high school baseball for decades. Ranked No. 12 nationally by Baseball America, Owasso has consistently proven itself against top competition both in and out of state.

With regionals behind them, the Rams now turn their attention to the Class 6A state tournament, which is scheduled to begin next week in the Tulsa area. Tournament pairings, dates, and times are expected to be announced in the coming days by the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA).

Owasso enters the state bracket with momentum, depth, and experience on its side. The team features a well-rounded roster that combines veteran leadership with emerging talent, bolstered by strong pitching and a consistent offense. As one of the favorites to contend for the state title, the Rams are aiming to add a 15th state championship trophy to their collection.

Stay tuned for updates on state tournament scheduling and coverage as the Rams prepare for their next challenge.
